Well it’s Wednesday, time for a way-back when. Every time you step into your bath or shower, in a way, you’re living like royalty. Bathing throughout history has gone through a ton of different styles, cultures and habits. For instance, English King Henry VIII — known for his many wives, such as Anne Boleyn — reputedly only bathed twice in his life. On the other hand, Queen Caroline of England bathed every day by strict routine.
But even when royalty did bathe, they barely enjoyed the full-dip we take for granted today. It cost a ton in time and labor to heat that much water and get it to the bath. Of course, leading doctors of the day advised against frequent baths— they believed it could increase your odds of getting sick.
On the other hand, there were times when bathing, and bathing often, by royalty set the standard of high class. The cultures of the ancient Mediterranean are known for their love of baths. In Greece and Rome everyone bathed, but only the riche and elite could afford to do so at home in their own tub. They would hire special craftsmen to design the perfect place to relax and get clean. Today, with a Advanced Resurfacing, it’s easy and affordable to get the kind of shine and sparkle available only to kings, queens and emperors throughout history.
The oldest known bathtub belonged to, of course, royalty. A queen of Crete had this lavish bathtub carved for her more than 3,500 years ago– and it doesn’t look that different from what you might have in your own house.
